Borrowing

Members of the Iowa Bar Association may borrow library materials with a member borrowing card. Member borrowing cards are issued at the Circulation Desk.

Other guests may borrow library materials through interlibrary loan at their local library.


Guest Wireless Service

Visitors to the University of Iowa campus may use the University’s free guest wireless service. To connect to the guest network, select the "UI-Guest" network when configuring a device for wireless access. Then use a web browser to confirm the connection to the wireless network and agree to UI-Guest's Terms of Service. Law Library and University Library online databases may not be accessible to visitors via the guest wireless service. To access Law Library and University Library online databases, it may be necessary for visitors to use one of the General Access Computers located in the Law Library. Access to some law library databases is restricted to law school students and faculty.


General Access Computers

General access computers are available on all three levels of the Law Library for guests. The general access computers require a Guest ID and Guest Password, which may be obtained at the Circulation Desk. You may search the library's online catalog, InfoHawk, or the Internet from the general access computers. Also, the general access computers have reader versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe. Guests should save their work product to a USB flash drive or a cloud storage service, such as Dropbox.


Printing

Printing is available for non-law University students, faculty, staff and guest printing. Printing costs $.03 per printed page.

To print, an ITC PrintKey must be purchased from the Circulation Desk. PrintKeys are available in the amounts of $1.00, Every PrintKey has a unique registration code and must be used within 72 hours, unless alternate arrangements are made at the Circulation Desk. Copying

A coin-operated photocopy machine is located near the Reference Desk on Level 2 of the Law Library and is available for all guests to use. Copying costs $.10 per page.


Scanning

A high-speed, black and white/color scanner is located near the Reference Desk on Level 2 of the Law Library and is available for all guests to use. Scanned documents may be emailed or saved to an USB flash drive. The USB port is located on the left side of the panel display.


Microform Readers

There are three microform readers available on the first floor of the Law Library in Room 130. The readers allow users to save images to a USB flash drive or to a University shared drive at no charge, or the image may be e-mailed at no charge. Instructions for using the microform equipment are located near the machines. Please ask staff in Room 130 for assistance.
