The wait is over! The Law Library has deployed a self-checkout machine that allows patrons to check books out using their IowaOne card (university ID). Read this article or watch a Video for more information.
The machine is located near the couches on the main level. Instructions are located on the touchscreen, so the process is very straightforward. One thing to keep in mind is that each book will set off the alarm at the exit to the library unless you follow the instructions that ask you to place the book in the V and press it all the way forward until you hear a “clunk” sound. If you attempt to borrow a book that may not leave the library, a popup will ask you to take that item to the Circulation Desk. You can also review and print a list of the items you have borrowed, as well as renew items. And if you’d rather, you can still take items to the Circulation Desk for a personal borrowing experience. The Library is pleased to provide this new and convenient service. Come check it out! (pun intended)
