A third installment in our Welcome (Back) to the Law Library. In this article we highlight scanning, printing, and study aids, as well as reference service.
Tech needs – scanning and printing
Given the guidance on limiting shared surfaces, we have removed most of the public computers or keyboards and mice from the machines in the Library. The notable exceptions are limited devices on the 2nd Floor. The Library has two black and white printers and one scanner on the Main level/2nd Floor. Information Technology Services (ITS) is rolling out a tool to remotely release print jobs, but we still have a computer for releasing print jobs. (Please visit the ITS website for updated information.) After you use the shared devices, please wipe them off for the next user. If there are no wipes available, please go to the Circulation Desk for assistance.
Circulation and study aids on Reserve
Due to public health guidelines, we have changed the check-out procedures and guidelines around handling materials. The checkout process will be managed through plexiglass shields and require students to coordinate with the Circulation staff. This will require attention and patience as we work out the procedures. We thank you, in advance, for your cooperation.
Items in the Library available for checkout, including Reserve materials, will be due at the end of the semester. Because of the challenges of circulating popular Reserve materials, in addition to the Lexis and West Academic Study Aid packages, we have purchased a one-year subscription to the Wolters Kluwer Study Aid Library (which includes the Examples & Explanations series). If you have any questions about accessing or using these titles, please reach out to the Reference Librarians at refdesk@uiowa.edu.
Reference
Virtual reference services will be available Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm and Saturday, 10am – 5pm. Appointments are also available upon request. The Reference Librarians can be contacted via email at refdesk@uiowa.edu or call (319) 335-9005 and leave a message with your phone number.
We look forward to helping you during this semester and beyond.
