Summer Access for Current Students
Law students have continued access to Bloomberg Law over the summer and may use Bloomberg Law in their summer jobs. More information on Bloomberg Law's law student resources is available here.
Graduate Access
Bloomberg Law, which normally provides graduates with access for six months after graduation, will now provide 2020 graduates with unrestricted Bloomberg Law access through June 1, 2021.
Lexis Advance
Summer Access for Current Students
Law students have continued access to Lexis Advance over the summer. Lexis believes your participation in a summer associate, internship or clerkship program is a valuable part of your legal education. For that reason, during the summer the permissible uses of your LexisNexis law school educational ID are expanded to include use at any law firm, government agency, court or other legal position, internship, externship or clerkship.
Graduate Access
Graduates are invited to continue accessing lexisnexis.com/lawschool with their student ID for ongoing free use of Lexis Advance, including all of the products and features available as a student, through December 31, 2020. No registration is required, there are no restrictions, and no limits on your research time.
A Graduation Gift from Lexis
When graduates sign on to lexisnexis.com/lawschool after July 5, they will see a new Graduate Homepage. In support of their legal career, graduate can choose between four gifts featured on the Graduate Homepage:
- Extended access to Law360
- Lexis Practice Advisor
- Lexis for Microsoft Office
- or one of 13 LexisNexis eBooks, such as Corbin on Contracts or Weinstein's Evidence Manual.
Additionally, the Graduate Homepage provides access to research resources, videos, career support and breaking legal news.
Westlaw
Westlaw for Graduating Students
You have access to Thomson Reuters products, including Westlaw and Practical Law, for six-months after graduation. Your “Grad Elite” access gives you 60-hours of usage on these products per month to gain understanding and build confidence in your research skills. While you cannot use it in situations where you are billing a client, Thomson Reuters encourages you to use these tools to build your knowledge of the law and prepare for your bar exam.
In addition, you get access to job searching databases on Westlaw and TWEN for 18-months after graduation for 1-hour a month. Extend access by logging into www.lawschool.tr.com.
Summer Access for Current Students
You can use Thomson Reuters products, including Westlaw and Practical Law, over the summer for non-commercial research. You can turn to these resources to gain understanding and build confidence in your research skills, but you cannot use them in situations where you are billing a client. Examples of permissible uses for your academic password include the following:
- Summer coursework
- Research assistant assignments
- Law Review or Journal research
- Moot Court research
- Non-Profit work
- Clinical work
- Externship sponsored by the school
Current students do not need to do anything for extended summer access.
