Looking forward to the summer or to graduation? Here is information on access to Westlaw, Lexis Advance, and Bloomberg Law.
The research systems have different policies regarding the use of student accounts during the summer and after graduation.
Summer
Iowa Law students may apply for their Westlaw accounts to be extended for the summer, but only for the following purposes:
- Summer law school classes and study abroad programs
- Law review and journal work, including write-on competitions
- Research assistant work
- Moot court activities
- Unpaid internships/externships
Law students may not use their student Westlaw accounts at a law firm, government agency, court, or other non-law school employment.
Please click here to apply for Westlaw summer access for one of these purposes.
Post-Graduation
Iowa Law students graduating in May can apply for post-graduation access to Westlaw.
This access is for 60 hours per month, from June through November of the graduation year, regardless of when the extension is granted.
To apply for post-graduation access to Westlaw, please log in to Westlaw, and then complete the Grad Survey, available from the main https://lawschool.westlaw.com page (the page that allows access to both Westlaw and TWEN).
