Continuing University of Iowa law students may use all of the online databases as you would during the regular semester, with the exceptions below. Students who graduate may continue to use some Law Library resources, such as the research guides. If you have any questions about what is available, check with a Reference Librarian. All-Access to Lexis Advance®

1Ls & 2Ls: Students may continue to use their current Lexis Advance® ID for any purpose this summer– including work they perform at a law firm, corporation or government agency. 

Lexis Advance ID all summer long for:

  • Any purpose at all
  • All legal content and news on their current law student ID
  • Unlimited hours-per-week

Graduating 3Ls, can register for one of our Graduate Program IDs that will extend their access beyond graduation. To learn more, visit


3Ls who graduate in May will have unrestricted access to Westlaw through October 2014. They will also have access to the West Legal Directory to assist with the job search for18 months after graduation. 

1Ls and 2Ls will have limited access (40 hours/month) for June and July, unless they qualify for full access (taking summer courses, an internship for course credit or required for graduation, research for journal or law review), which is 180 hours/month. These students can extend their password for unrestricted access on

Bloomberg Law

Students can use your Bloomberg Law accounts over the summer for any purpose, including work-related research or for job searching. No limits. No restrictions. Graduating students can continue to use their accounts for six months after graduation. Again, no limits or restriction.
