David Bayne

Biographical Information

After earning a BA from the University of Detroit, an MA from Loyola University, and LLB and LLM from Georgetown, an SJD from Yale, and his Licentiate in Sacred Theology from West Baden College, Father David Bayne served as faculty member and Dean at the University of Detroit Law School, taught at the St. Louis University Law School, and eventually joined the faculty at the University of Iowa College of Law in 1967. He served as a Professor of Law at Iowa for over 20 years before taking Emeritus status in 1988, which he held until his death in 2009.

Father Bayne was an expert in the fields of corporate control, securities regulation, and moral theology.  While a professor at Iowa, he founded the Journal of Corporation Law with a group of his students in 1975.
