Thank you for thinking of the Law Library. As a donor of library materials, you are one of our most valued supporters. Gifts-in-kind enhance and enrich the collection of the Law Library. They represent materials that otherwise might be impossible to obtain.
How to Donate
Donations may be dropped off at the Circulation Desk of the Law Library. We are happy to pick up substantial gifts from local donors, and may be able to pay for the shipping of substantial gifts from donors outside the Iowa City area.
We may ask to review a gift prior to acceptance. If the gift does not meet our needs, we will attempt to refer the donor to a more appropriate recipient.
Conditions of Acceptance
Any gift-in-kind becomes the property of the Law Library. Unless otherwise specified in writing, the Law Library considers all gifts to be unrestricted. We reserve the right later to sell, exchange, or discard items which no longer fit our needs.
Acknowledgments
We will issue a receipt or letter of acknowledgement describing the quantity and type of materials donated. However, the Law Library cannot compile a detailed list of donated materials or at a later date provide a precise reconstruction of the contents of a gift. We will return with the acknowledgment a copy of any list supplied by the donor. Federal regulations prohibit the Law Library from giving appraisals or estimates of value.
