A premier research library, the University of Iowa Law Library has one of the most comprehensive collections of all academic law libraries in the United States. The only law library among the Board of Regents' universities, the University of Iowa Law Library is an important resource for not only members of the University of Iowa community, but also for researchers and citizens throughout Iowa.

Staff members at the University of Iowa Law Library curate, care for, and make the Law Library's information resources available for use. Librarians with law degrees and graduate degrees in library and information science educate students, assist faculty members with research, and help members of the public identify and navigate legal resources.

Icon of the State of Iowa with a heart in the location of Iowa City

We provide one of the very best places in the nation to conduct legal research, as the repository of one of the two or three largest and most comprehensive collections of such resources among all public and private law school libraries in the nation, and as a premier educator of its patrons on legal research methods.

We initiate and support strategic partnerships to enrich our communities, inspire innovation, and protect and make accessible legal information.

We pursue, support, share, and preserve law, legal information, and legal scholarship created each day for researchers in the present and into the future.

We develop and engage a communicative and curious staff of experts to meet and anticipate service needs.

We strive to be a distinctive, memorable, and beloved part of our expansive community.
